| Cypress | Source | |
|---|---|---|
| Cypress App | Free to use under the MIT license. | Source |
| Cloud Starter | Free, with 500 test results/month, 100 prompt executions/month and 10 users. | Source |
| Paid Cloud plans | Team starts at $67/month, billed annually at $799. Business starts at $267/month, billed annually at $3,199. Enterprise pricing is custom. | Source |
| Usage units | Only recorded runs count toward Cloud test results; local development runs do not. Each cy.prompt command counts as a prompt execution, locally or in CI. | Source |
| cy.prompt limits | Beta, for end-to-end tests on Chromium-based browsers only. Requires a Cypress Cloud account or valid record key. It does not support component testing. | Source |
How the workflows differ
| Cypress | Monito | |
|---|---|---|
| Authoring | JavaScript or TypeScript specs, with Studio AI recording and natural-language steps through cy.prompt. Source | Describe the browser journey and expected result in plain English. |
| Where tests live | Code in your repo. You can export generated commands into version-controlled tests or keep natural-language steps. Source | Scenarios saved in Monito, with Markdown export. No Playwright code export. |
| Pricing model | Free Cypress App plus optional Cloud plans metered by recorded test results and prompt executions. Source | Pro is $79/month for 700 credits. Test runs and Discovery spend credits; see the offer below. |
| Triggers | Run from your CI pipeline. Cloud adds parallel orchestration and PR status feedback. Source | Web app, CLI and MCP. Schedules, deploy webhooks and GitHub Actions are available; plan requirements are below. |
| Maintenance | With cy.prompt left in the test, Cypress says it regenerates a step when cached selectors fail. Exported test code remains something your team maintains. Source | You update the scenario when the expected behavior changes. The agent chooses browser actions during each run. |
Where Cypress is the better fit
Choose Cypress when you already own its specs and want to keep them as code, including code generated from natural-language steps. Source
Choose Cypress when you need component tests that mount the component directly in a real browser. Source
Choose Cypress when your team wants CI orchestration and failure feedback around its existing suite, including parallel runs and flake detection. Source
Where Monito fits
Use Monito when your team wants to maintain the expected behavior as a scenario and review a browser report. It does not replace component tests.
Keep useful existing specs while trying a scenario for a new web journey. Compare the resulting evidence before deciding which checks to move; a migration does not need to replace every test.
Monito runs desktop Chromium. It does not test native mobile apps, provide Firefox or WebKit runs, or export Playwright code.
Monito pricing
Pro is $79/month for 700 credits, counted on the pricing page as about 600 test runs and 5 Discoveries. A test run is 1 credit and Discovery is 20, so the same 700 credits are 700 test runs if you skip Discovery. Team is $199/month for 1,800 credits (about 1,500 tests and 15 Discoveries). Yearly plans cost ten monthly payments ($790 and $1,990) and grant twelve months of credits upfront. If Monito caused the error, that run is free.
50 free test credits every month. Your balance refills to 50 on the 1st of each month (UTC), counting credits reserved by running tests. Unused credits are not added again; purchased credits are kept. Your signup credits count as the first month. Free includes one daily schedule. Verify your email to receive monthly refills. Any schedule other than that one daily schedule, a deploy webhook, GitHub Actions, and a public status page need Pro.
Published benchmark evidence
On the held-out benchmark measured 2026-10-12, the verdict was right on 58 of 60 runs, with 0 false passes in 30 chances (95% upper bound 9.6%). The held-out set covers 5 open-source apps.
On our own corpus, measured 2026-10-05, the verdict was right on 110 of 111 runs, with 0 false passes in 57 chances (95% upper bound 5.2%), and 88 of 111 verdicts cited the required evidence. Neither set is a promise about your app. The held-out set is a small number of real bugs in open-source apps. The corpus is ours. The method and the limits are on the reliability page.
