Checkly Agentic Checks alternative
Checkly Agentic Checks stop running on 2026-12-01. If the check you depend on is a prompt, replace it before then. Monito is a place to put that prompt. It is not a replacement for the rest of Checkly.
Competitor facts last checked: 2026-10-20.
The deadline
Checkly's Agentic Checks overview says Agentic Checks are deprecated and will stop running on December 1, 2026. Existing active and deactivated checks can run until then. Deactivated checks keep their configuration and history. Checkly CLI 10.0.0-rc.1, published 2026-10-09, removes the AgenticCheck construct. A project that still defines one fails to load. To keep managing them as code until they stop, stay on CLI 9.x. Removing the construct and deploying deletes that check.
Checkly's migration guide says to replace each active Agentic Check with a Browser Check or a Multistep Check, verify it, turn on automatic repair, and then deactivate the Agentic Check. Automatic repair can edit the saved script. That is the path if you want the check to remain a script inside Checkly.
When Monito is the other path
An Agentic Check was a monitoring goal in plain language. The first run discovered a script. Later runs preferred that script and could self-heal it. Monito does not do that. You write what should work. Monito runs it in Chromium and returns a verdict with screenshots, the network log, and the console. Runs that do not sign in also record a video. Runs that sign in keep masked screenshots. Nothing rewrites the scenario to make the next run pass. When the product changes, you change the sentence.
Pro is $79/month for 700 credits, counted on the pricing page as about 600 test runs and 5 Discoveries. A test run is 1 credit and Discovery is 20, so the same 700 credits are 700 test runs if you skip Discovery. Team is $199/month for 1,800 credits (about 1,500 tests and 15 Discoveries). Yearly plans cost ten monthly payments ($790 and $1,990) and grant twelve months of credits upfront. If Monito caused the error, that run is free. 50 free test credits every month. Your balance refills to 50 on the 1st of each month (UTC), counting credits reserved by running tests. Unused credits are not added again; purchased credits are kept. Your signup credits count as the first month. Free includes one daily schedule. Verify your email to receive monthly refills. Any schedule other than that one daily schedule, a deploy webhook, GitHub Actions, and a public status page need Pro.
Create an account to run one journey before you deactivate anything in Checkly. Pricing and reliability are public. monito check and the MCP server are ways to run the same scenario. They are not a different product.
Side by side
| Checkly Agentic Checks | Monito | |
|---|---|---|
| After 2026-12-01 | These checks stop running. Browser, API, and Playwright checks are a different product and stay. | A saved scenario keeps running on its schedule. |
| What you maintain | A prompt, then a saved script. Automatic repair can edit the script. | The scenario text. Monito does not change it to produce a pass. |
| Where it runs | A browser-capable runtime, on the locations you configure. Private locations are not available for Agentic Checks. | Chromium, against one URL. No region list, no private location, no native mobile. |
| How often | Checkly documents frequencies down to 5 minutes. | Free includes one daily schedule. Hourly, every 6 hours, and weekly need Pro. |
| A failure | Checkly's alert channels. | The run report. A failing schedule emails you. Slack notifications need Team. |
Who should stay on Checkly
Stay, and follow their migration guide, if any of these are the point of the check:
- You want a script you can read and automatic repair inside Checkly.
- You need API checks, multistep API workflows, or several public locations.
- The Agentic Check is one piece of a Checkly account you already alert from.
Monito will not import that account. API monitors and multi-location uptime are not what this product does.
Who should move a journey
Move the journey if the Agentic Check exists because nobody on the team wants to own a script. The teams Monito is built for are small, about 1–15 engineers, with no QA person. You describe the signup, checkout, or invite that would cost money if it broke, and you keep that sentence.
How to move one journey
- In Checkly, open the Agentic Check and copy the prompt. Note the URL and what should pass or fail. Leave secrets in Checkly. Do not paste passwords into the text you bring over.
- In Monito, create a project for that URL. Write one scenario for one journey: the goal, what success looks like, and what failure looks like. Put logins on an environment login role. The executor enters them without putting them in the prompt. How to write the scenario.
- Run it. Read the report. A pass, a fail, and an error are different. An error means Monito could not verify the scenario. It is not a pass, and if Monito caused it you don't pay.
- For a journey that has to keep working in production, add a schedule. Free includes one daily schedule. Hourly, every 6 hours, weekly, a second schedule, a deploy webhook, and GitHub Actions need Pro. A status page (Pro) publishes the journey for visitors. Only scheduled and deploy-webhook runs count, and a failure is confirmed before it is shown as down.
- For pull requests, use GitHub Actions or a deploy webhook on Pro. Both need a plan. The CLI can bind GitHub Actions with OIDC so the workflow does not store a Monito API key.
- When the Monito run covers the failure you cared about, deactivate the Agentic Check in Checkly. Do that before 2026-12-01. Leave your other Checkly checks where they are.
Scenarios export as Markdown with monito scenario export --project <id>. That is the text you wrote, not a Playwright suite.
Questions
When do Checkly Agentic Checks stop running?
December 1, 2026. Checkly's Agentic Checks overview and migration guide both say that. Checkly CLI 10.0.0-rc.1 (2026-10-09) removes the AgenticCheck construct. Stay on CLI 9.x if you still manage those checks as code.
Does Monito replace Checkly?
No. Monito runs a plain-English scenario in a Chromium browser and can repeat it on a schedule. It does not replace Checkly API checks, multi-location monitors, private locations, or a Playwright suite. If you want to stay on Checkly and own a script, follow Checkly's migration guide.
