Data retention
How long Monito keeps run evidence, run history and your configuration on each plan.
Test runs produce two kinds of data, and Monito keeps them for different periods.
- Run evidence is what the browser recorded: the video, screenshots, network requests, console output, values entered during the run and the agent transcript. It is the most detailed and the most sensitive data, so it is kept for the shortest time.
- Run history is the record of what happened: the verdict and its reasons, bug report titles, descriptions and reproduction steps, defect links, timing and credits.
| Plan | Run evidence | Run history |
|---|---|---|
| No subscription (signup credits, top-ups or lapsed) | 30 days | 365 days |
| Pro | 90 days | 365 days |
| Team | 180 days | 365 days |
| Enterprise | By agreement | By agreement |
Projects, environments, tests, suites and automations are kept until you delete them or your account.
How the period is set
A run's evidence period is fixed when the run starts, from the plan you have at that moment. The run report shows the date under Details → Evidence, and monito run view <id> --evidence prints it.
- Upgrading extends the evidence you still have to the new plan's period, including runs from before you paid.
- Downgrading or cancelling never shortens the period of runs that already happened. New runs get the new plan's period.
- Top-up credits do not change retention. It follows your subscription.
- A failed payment keeps your plan's retention while the payment is retried.
What happens when evidence expires
The run stays in your history with its verdict, reasons, bug reports and defect links. The video, screenshots, browser activity and agent transcript are deleted. The run report says when they were deleted.
When run history expires, the run, its bug reports and its occurrences are deleted. A defect is deleted with its last occurrence; a defect seen again within the year stays, with the history of its remaining occurrences.
Deleted data cannot be recovered. Download a run's video from its report, or save the evidence bundle with the CLI, before it expires:
monito run view <run-id> --evidence --json > run-evidence.jsonDeleting data yourself
Deleting a session, test or project deletes its evidence immediately. The stored files are removed from our storage provider within hours. Deleting your account from Settings → Account deletes everything the account owns. Monito keeps only a one-way hash of its email address, so free signup credits are granted once per email.
Other records
- Saved browser login state expires within an hour.
- Expired sign-in sessions, verification codes and access tokens, and copies of emails we sent, are deleted 30 days after they expire or are sent.
- Invoices and tax records are held by Polar, our merchant of record. Monito keeps a record of your credit purchases and usage for the life of your account.
