Connect a Client

The hosted server URL is:

https://www.monito.dev/api/mcp

The first time a client uses it, your browser opens to sign in to Monito and approve the connection. See Authentication for what the approval allows and how to disconnect.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http monito https://www.monito.dev/api/mcp

Then run /mcp in Claude Code and choose monito to sign in. Add --scope project to share the server with your team through .mcp.json.

To use the local server instead:

claude mcp add monito -- npx -y @monitodev/cli mcp

Claude (web and desktop)

Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, name it Monito and paste the server URL. Claude opens Monito's sign-in page when you connect.

Cursor

Add Monito to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or to .cursor/mcp.json in a project:

ChatGPT

Turn on developer mode for connectors in ChatGPT's settings, create a connector with the server URL and choose OAuth authentication. ChatGPT opens Monito's sign-in page when you connect.

Codex

Add the local server to ~/.codex/config.toml:

Local server in any client

Any client that can start a local command can run:

npx -y @monitodev/cli mcp

It signs in with your CLI login, so run monito auth login once (install the CLI or use npx -y @monitodev/cli auth login). A later login takes effect without restarting the server. In headless environments, set MONITO_TOKEN to an API key instead.

The local server adds the CI setup tools, which work on the repository in the directory the client starts it in.

Fewer tools

Every tool is on by default. To keep your agent's context smaller, pick toolsets: add ?toolsets=core,defects to the hosted URL, or pass --toolsets core,defects to the local server.
